Dominican Republic Medical Mission Trip

March 2010

Bryan Linck with Orphanage Outreach reviews logistics of trip with Dr. Steve Halm at Miami Airport awaiting departure to Santiago.  Bryan worked closely with the volunteers to make sure everyone has a meaningful experience.

Dr. Halm examines a young baby on 2nd clinic day.  We saw a wide variety of illnesses and provided much-needed care.   Every patient was respectful, kind, and appreciative.

Dr. Halm and Dr. Dan Allen's  morning clinic teams -  3rd clinic day.  The best teams ever!  Each team consisted of a scribe, a translator and a "runner" to assist patients to their next stop, the pharmacy.

The  "Pharmacy Hut" on 2nd day of clinic in back of the church.  Each day, medications from the pharmacy were transported to and from clinic with hundreds of medication prescriptions dispensed.

Typically, each patient received three medications in addition to a 3- month supply of vitamins.  The logistics of running such a pharmacy were huge.  Safety was always a priority over speed, so their was often a line at the end of the day.
